What Is BGoSH?

MISSION STATEMENT

To increase the viability of local businesses and encourage high quality enterprise, by enhancing and cultivating Historic Seminole Heights as a unique and enjoyable commercial environment.

The Business Guild of Seminole Heights is an association of business owners within the boundaries of the Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa who are interested in improving the commercial environment in the neighborhood.

BGoSH was organized in October, 2005 by Sherry King and Suzanne Prieur with the goal of providing a forum for the community's business owners and artists to share their viewpoints and concerns for the area. Also to help unify its members' resources and efforts with a goal of accomplishing key projects based on priorities.

The Board Members are responsible for running and operating BGoSH, and members are encouraged to become active in committees and by participating in events and meetings. There are two membership levels:

  • Full Member: Open to business owners and artists that run their business from within the boundaries of Seminole Heights. Includes a listing in the Membership List of this website, and voting privileges on the organization's projects and efforts.
  • Associate Member: Anyone interested in improving Seminole Heights may join as an Associate Member. This membership allows access to information, however, Associate Members do not have voting rights, and are not included in the Membership List.

BGoSH Committees work with board members to oversee different projects such as commercial corridor improvement, beautification, education, business recruitment and regulatory issues, as well as administrative committees such as membership, marketing and public relations.

Some BGoSH goals include:

  • Networking with other Seminole Heights business owners
  • Sharing information to help establish new businesses and encourage growth for existing companies
  • Support special events in the neighborhood
  • Create and maintain beautiful, safe and profitable business dstricts
  • Be involved with city, transportation and government planing

Details of the organization can be found in its Bylaws in the Filing Cabinet section.
