My Seminole Heights - Author Shawn Hicks updates this one on an average of about once a week.
Recreating Tampa - A blog about lots of stuff, but mostly Tampa and Florida. Writer Dave Davisson lives in Seminole Heights, and includes neighborhood stuff now and again.
Blogging in Evelyn City - Evelyn City is a subdivision of Old Seminole Heights, initially developed in the early 1900s. This blog is updated now and again.
Tommy in Old Seminole Heights – OSH resident Tommy McNeeley writes this one, and updates are not as frequent as they once were.
Seminole Heights Lost & Found – SH L&F is a great idea, but unless something has gone missing, there is no reason to update it. And so it’s not.
A Slice of Seminole Heights UMC – This one focuses on the goings on at the United Methodist Church in Seminole Heights. Some of it relates to the surrounding neighborhood.
Tampa Heights – OK, so it’s not Seminole Heights. But it is close by. This one is only updated about once a month.
Seminole Heights.com – other than RSS feeds from Google News and the original Seminole Heights Blog, this one doesn’t seem to be updated manually. It has the look and feel of a Realtor website.
Historic Seminole Heights – This one does not seem to be updated frequently either, and not sure of the point here.
Hampton Terrace dot org - includes a very basic look at the subdivision within Seminole Heights.
Future Transportation Master Plan Set
The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) Board adopted its Regional Transportation Master Plan on Friday, May 22, 2009 and presented the Regional Plan at a ceremony at which elected officials and community leaders from the seven-county TBARTA region attended on Thursday, May 28th.
The TBARTA Regional Transportation Master Plan provides a framework for a seamless, linked transportation system using a variety of transportation types such as highways, rail, and bus. The Regional Plan defines a network of high capacity corridors that demonstrate improved mobility and get people to where they want to go throughout the seven county Tampa Bay region, regardless of how many city boundaries or county lines are crossed. “The adoption of this Regional Transportation Plan means that we will be able to begin to takes the next steps toward building a balanced transportation system that will improve the quality of life for everyone in the region,” said Shelton Quarles, Chairman of TBARTA. “We are eager to get to work on the next phase, which is implementation of the Plan.”
ABOUT THE REGIONAL PLAN
The Regional Plan features four networks, or transportation systems: A Long-Term Regional Network, a Mid-Term Regional Network, and Mid-Term and Long-Term Supporting Networks. These networks include several transportation modes such as short-distance and long-distance rail, short-distance and long-distance bus services, and managed lanes. The Regional Plan outlines a regional approach for solving some of the region’s transportation, growth
and economic development issues.
PLAN IMPLEMENTATION AND NEXT STEPS
Now that the Master Plan is adopted, the TBARTA Board will begin to discuss priorities and funding options in the coming months, beginning in June 2009. Individual projects will be prioritized and studied as TBARTA moves toward incremental implementation.
The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (www.TBARTA.com) was created by the Florida Legislature in 2007 to plan and develop a multimodal transportation system that will connect the seven counties of the Tampa Bay region. The legislature has mandated that TBARTA must create a Regional Transportation Master Plan for the Tampa Bay region by July 2009. The goal of this Master Plan is to engage the public in developing a vision for regional integration of regional transportation systems and foster partnerships with government agencies and business entities.

SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - Layoffs, foreclosures and tight-fisted credit are not the usual incentives for a business boom.
But Seminole Heights is bursting with activity.
At least seven businesses recently opened or under construction are taking hold along the neighborhood's major corridors: Nebraska, Florida and Hillsborough avenues.
They are: Sangria's Spanish Tapas Bar & Restaurant, Ella's restaurant, Richy's Themes Sports Lounge, The Independent tavern, Tampa Street Market, D&D's Antiques & More and Reservations Gourmet to Go.
For these business owners, dreams and passions and the need to make a living doing what they know, are driving motives. And in Seminole Heights, rents are comparatively reasonable, Nebraska Avenue has undergone aesthetic improvements, and neighborhood associations are active.
Cathy Coyle, Zoning Administrator and Land Development Coordinator for the City of Tampa, presented an exciting Form Based Zoning project to the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association at their quarterly meeting.
BGoSH will be a part of the charrette to plan how to accomplish this.
